Household Wellbeing

Looks out for the people you look out for.

A parent who lives alone. A relative getting frailer than they'll admit. HuZe is being built to learn the everyday rhythm that means they're alright, and if that rhythm breaks, to quietly make sure somebody knows. No cameras.

A day with HuZe watching

It notices the ordinary, so it can spot the exception.

No cameras pointed at anyone. No panic-station dashboards. HuZe simply learns the small signals of a normal day: the kettle in the morning, the landing light at night, movement in the rooms that always have movement. When the ordinary doesn't happen, that means something.

A normal day, drawn as a 24-hour timeline. The landing light goes off at 23:10 the night before. The kettle is used at 07:05 and there is movement in the kitchen at 07:10, 12:20 and 18:15. The wearable beacon reports still overnight, moving from about 06:50, and still again from 23:10. The front door opens at 10:30.

A normal day. Ordinary signals arrive, nothing needs attention, and HuZe stays quiet.

The morning that does not start. The landing light went off at 23:10 last night. By 08:30 there has been no kettle use and no kitchen movement, and the wearable beacon is still reporting still, long past the usual wake-up. Huze notices at 08:30.

The morning that doesn't start. The kettle and kitchen movement do not happen and the beacon stays still. This is the escalation ladder the routine engine is being built to follow:
  1. Huze notices08:30. No kettle, no kitchen movement, and the beacon is still. It checks in with the person first.
  2. First contact is messagedA quiet message to the first person on your list: a son, a daughter, a neighbour with a key.
  3. No replyNobody answers. The concern does not evaporate into a missed notification.
  4. Next contact is messagedHuze moves down the list to the next person.
  5. Someone acknowledgesOne person replies that they are on it.
  6. Everyone is stood downThe rest of the list is told. No six people phoning at once.

An illustration of the design. The moving, still and not-here signal is in beta on test boxes. The learned routine, check-in and escalation are in development.

More than a button

Alarm buttons wait to be pressed. HuZe does not.

Pendant-alarm services are built around one moment: the person pressing the button. That matters, but the days that worry families most are the ones where nobody presses anything.

Wearable beaconShipped

A press for "I need someone now"

A small KBeacon BC021, worn as a pendant or kept by the chair. The box programs it itself, so there is nothing to set up, and it reports movement and stillness, battery level and temperature. Shipped 2 October 2026.

Aliveness signalIn beta

Moving, still or not here

Each enrolled wearable reports whether the person is moving, still or not here, so the box has something to reason about. Running on test boxes.

Routine engineNext

A learned normal day

HuZe learns what an ordinary day looks like for this household and flags "may be an issue" findings in plain words. In development.

Check-in, then escalateNext

The person first, then the list

The box checks in with the person first, then works down your list of contacts until someone acknowledges, and stands everyone else down. In development.

Daily digestNext

A quiet note each day

A short daily summary for the family, so no news can also be reassuring. In development.

Dignity firstShipped

A home, not a ward

There is nothing clinical to live with. The same box that runs the lights and heating does the looking out, invisibly. Independence is the point.

Still a smart home

The rest comes free.

Warmth on before they wake. Lights that come on ahead of the stairs at night. The caring home and the comfortable home are the same home. And because HuZe runs in the house, the watching carries on through a broadband outage.

Questions

Straight answers.

Does HuZe use cameras?

No. HuZe does not use cameras. It works from simple signals from devices you choose to install: a kettle plug, a landing light, movement sensors and an optional wearable beacon.

What is the wearable beacon?

A small KBeacon BC021 worn as a pendant or kept by the chair. The box programs it itself and records movement and stillness, battery level and temperature. A press means "I need someone now". It has been shipped on production boxes since 2 October 2026.

What is working today and what is still being built?

The beacon and its press are shipped. The aliveness signal, where each enrolled wearable reports moving, still or not here, is in beta on test boxes. The learned routine, the check-in with the person first, the escalation to your contacts and a daily digest are in development and marked Next.

Does it replace a pendant alarm or an emergency call?

No. HuZe sends notifications to the people you choose, from your own sensors. It is not a replacement for a professionally run alarm service, and in an emergency you should always call 999.

Does it work when the internet is down?

The watching happens on the box in the house, so it carries on through a broadband outage. The optional mobile-data plan lets the box reach the family during one.

HuZe's wellbeing features are designed to complement, not replace, regulated personal-alarm services. If someone depends on a professionally run alarm service today, keep it. HuZe adds the eyes and ears around it. In an emergency, call 999.
